Image: Shutters Int. Pungins house
The shutters are part of Pungins house, obviously they had to open but this presented a few little problems.
1. They had to open by themselves as if a gust of wind opened them, this took many takes to perform

2. When the shutters open you can see outside to a nights starlit sky and an illuminated moon that had to move in relative time to what was happening when you saw it again. Because of the restrictions of size where we were shooting, the nights sky was a short distance from the open window, this meant the lighting had to be split and care had to be taken for any light spillage.
Individual snoots were made for each light to illuminate a certain given target, whether it be the moon or a selection of stars. This probably could have been done digitally but with a bit of care it was done in camera. If its possible to get it that way it saves time and money also the blue or green screen can still cause over spill problems, so this was avoided.
3. As Night Dream fly's into Pungin's House the shutter doors had to move slightly and also the same as he fly's back out. Again this took a few takes to make it subtly look right.

This pic is from the morning before we set out to do the Father & Mother shoot, it was to be set in a local forrest which was below a gigantic stone monument called Penshaw Monument. The Production van, later to be nicknamed... Chatty Chatty Bang Bang by the cast and crew, was being loaded up with props and equipment before going on to meet up with Actress Jenny Duncan and other members of the crew.
As you can see everyone was in good spirits about that days shoot, from left to right, Paul Marshall... runner & on dock camera, the one with the beard, Dave Ross... clapper board and runner, and the last in the foreground eating.. Actor John Morris, inside the van peaking over the steering wheel is Daniel Harrison the directors son.
